Fun For Little Gardeners day 2026!

On Wednesday the 15th of April, the Health Promotion team held the Fun For Little Gardeners Event down at George Lay Park from 10am to 12pm !

The event aimed to encourage children and families to learn about growing their own food and where food comes from. We had 5 activity stations which included a plant a pot activity run by the George Lay Community Garden, A garden themed storytime by the Swan Hill Regional library, a flower and butterfly craft activity and a fruit and vegetable spinning wheel run by Kerri our SHDH dietitian. We recived watering cans from Lower Murray water which were given out to families and children. The Bean Hopper coffee van also made an appearance for an opportunity to get coffee and other hot drinks on the day.

We had around 180 people attend the event and enjoy the variety of activities which provided a great atmosphere of fun, smiles and family time. Thanks to everyone who supported this event and came on the day to enjoy it.
