The Fresh Food Swap has started in Swan Hill!
Fresh Food Swap
The Fresh Food Swap is an opportunity for people in our community to Swap a range of things including vegetables, fruit, herbs, seeds, seedlings, flowers, preserves, honey, and eggs. This initiative is free to participate and any produce left after everyone has swapped is open to the wider community to benefit from. This initiative hopes to connect local growers together in the joy of growing and making things with home grown produce. On Saturday the 18th of October the Swan Hill Regional Library held the first Fresh Food Swap which was a successful day with a range of products from Silverbeet, herbs, spring onions eggs, bread, flowers, oranges and pumpkins being brought in on. Any left over fruit or vegetables went to the Swan Hill Food Hub which will support our community through adding fresh produce to food relief packs.
The next session will be held on Saturday the 15th of November which will be the last Food Swap for the year. In 2026, this initiative will run the Third Saturday of the month at 10am- 12pm from January through to November.
We are looking for volunteers to help facilitate these Fresh Food Swaps going into 2026. This includes assisting with set up, running the session, and distributing any left-over produce. If anyone is interested in volunteering at the Fresh Food Swap, please let the library know.
We are looking forward to seeing this initiative grow over time in our community and to see what we grow in our home & community gardens locally.
